lyrics

I see a train,
Rising far from the distance,
I wish I was too late,
or hadn’t known of its existence.

I see black smoke,
Filling up the grey skies,
I should revoke,
but I’d risk falling out of time.

I feel it roar,
as its wheels endlessly screech to a hault.
And I curiously wait, and count my score,
And realize everything’s my fault.

I see those doors,
opening wider than anyone’s arms
and I feel invited to explore,
And that any of my movements won’t raise alarm.

Because there comes a time,
When we fall out of the black cloud,
And follow behind,
in a soothing coloured cart without need to avow.

I’ve reached a time,
Where I’ve left everything I was behind,
And I’m following behind,
In a beautiful red cart with a final sense of mind.

about

Jonathan Atkins Mississauga, Ontario

"A singer-songwriter with a devastating ear for harmonies and a delicate touch with lyrics that slide perfectly into a horrid winter. There's a definite Celtic touch, but far sweeter than something like Mumford & Sons." - Andrew Fifield (Metro News)
