Terminal 3/Reykjavík

from Pour Quand Vous Êtes À La Maison by Jonathan Atkins

/

lyrics

In a plane lifting off the ground,
There's a girl heading adventure bound.
Heading deep into the evening,
Across an ocean, away from the world she is leaving.

She's packed a bag full of sweaters,
For colder plane weather,
And when she lands in Reykjavik's air,
She'll be halfway there.

Once you think language is dead,
Lost to the wolves with their text talk instead,
You'll discover just how much you depend on it,
When a language is filled with a new alphabet.

I imagine her excitement after she flies,
To a place where a few phrases are enough to get by,
And she'll realise language is not dead, but unimportant,
When the language is dancing around mountains.

about

Jonathan Atkins Mississauga, Ontario

"A singer-songwriter with a devastating ear for harmonies and a delicate touch with lyrics that slide perfectly into a horrid winter. There's a definite Celtic touch, but far sweeter than something like Mumford & Sons." - Andrew Fifield (Metro News)
