Set It Off 04:18
We'll just forget those forever ago days, When we couldn't choose or decide which way was the way. We set it off, We set it off. We'll forget about the choices we made, They're way before our time. We'll forget about who we were before we met, Because who you are now is mine. We set it off, We set it off. If you were shining in the dark, Those long ago days, If you were shining in the dark, I wouldn't have been afraid, And I wouldn't be who I am for you now. We'll remember every single capture we created over time, As we place them in the corner of our mind. And the rhythmic heartbeat that sinks into our ocean to be seen, are so lyrically placed into perfect and underestimated oceanic scene. We set it off, We set it off. If you were shining in the dark, Those long ago days, If you were shining in the dark, I wouldn't have been afraid. Now that we're shining in the dark, You won't be afraid. Now that we're shining in the dark, I won't be afraid. We set it off.

Paper City 03:20
I'll build a little paper boat, To sail the rivers we cry, And I'll build a paper plane, To take us away and high. I'll build a forest of metal, So no trees will ever fall down, And if someone happens to ever cut through, We'll at least hear its sound. And in that world where nothing seems to real, In my mind there can be perfection to everything, So build upon my city, build upon me, So I can stand up high. Ba da ba ba ba ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba. Ba da ba ba ba ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba, Ba da ba ba ba. I'll stack boxes 42 stories high, And hope you like the ocean view, 'Cause I'd give you that perfect view, I'd give it to you. I'd build a town of cards, And watch the communities come together. I'd love to see it happen, To watch the world become fair weather.

Blackbird 03:49
Early morning when the seas come in, The seas in the dreams that we perceive. Weather all around consists of, Tearing down walls and this thing called love. Do do do do do do do do, Do do do do do do do do, Do do do do do do do do, Do do do do do do do do. Break this light in from the distance please, If not for this cracking earth, then at least for me. Break the broken pieces and melt them down, Turn them new, turn them to something new, create a whole new town. Goodnight blackbird, Your tune is so overheard, You replace me with simple words, So goodnight blackbird. The quiet voice is screaming now, Telling me to wake up from this deep sleep. The screaming voice grows calmer now, Reminding me to wake up from my sleep. Goodnight blackbird, Your tune is so overheard, You replace me with simple words, So goodnight blackbird.

In breathing without air, you realize what you need. Something to struggle for, that normally comes naturally. In breathing without air, you learn to adapt, and breathe in something else, breathe out all you’ve kept and I, I can’t seem to decide, whether I was made for a new kind, a new kind of air In breathing without air, your lungs fill up with nothing, as a gasp becomes a goal, you’ll be unaware of anything. In breathing with no air, you’ll come to realize, you’ve spent to long trying to breathe, rather than finding compromise. and I, I can’t seem to decide, whether I was made for a new kind, a new kind of air In breathing with new air, all is fair.

Train 03:39
I see a train, Rising far from the distance, I wish I was too late, or hadn’t known of its existence. I see black smoke, Filling up the grey skies, I should revoke, but I’d risk falling out of time. I feel it roar, as its wheels endlessly screech to a hault. And I curiously wait, and count my score, And realize everything’s my fault. I see those doors, opening wider than anyone’s arms and I feel invited to explore, And that any of my movements won’t raise alarm. Because there comes a time, When we fall out of the black cloud, And follow behind, in a soothing coloured cart without need to avow. I’ve reached a time, Where I’ve left everything I was behind, And I’m following behind, In a beautiful red cart with a final sense of mind. © Jonathan Atkins

about

Jonathan Atkins Mississauga, Ontario

"A singer-songwriter with a devastating ear for harmonies and a delicate touch with lyrics that slide perfectly into a horrid winter. There's a definite Celtic touch, but far sweeter than something like Mumford & Sons." - Andrew Fifield (Metro News)
